Led statewide efforts aimed at advancing education equity, closing the achievement gap, and decreasing disproportionality in student outcomes. Manages stakeholder engagement and strategic partnerships in support of public education in Virginia.
Directed external communications (website, social media, digital media) public relations, and outreach strategies in support of key Department initiatives to advance stakeholder and public awareness of education programs and policy changes.
City of Richmond - Human Services
November 2010 - April 2015
Provided management and oversight of the City of Richmond’s youth workforce development program known as the Mayor’s Youth Academy. This included; developing the program design, managing a program budget of $700,000; development and implementation of marketing and recruitment strategies; soliciting corporate and non-profit partnership/sponsorship; recruitment of volunteers and contract monitoring. Planned, organized, and implemented Mayor's special initiatives for the City’s Human Services portfolio.
Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services - Maternal & Child Health
May 2006-November 2010
Provided detailed data analysis, and developed comprehensive policy reports and legislative studies on un-insurance, Virginia Medicaid enrollment trends, and healthcare utilization data and trends. Managed and authored Virginia’s successful grant proposal for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Maximizing Enrollment Grant (MaxEnroll) making Virginia one of eight states awarded $1 million in private funding.
